Teresa Celebrates Holidays, Let Her Celebrate Them With You!
Happy fall, ya’ll!
I don’t know about you, but fall is my favorite time of the year! Time to cuddle up in warm sweaters, fuzzy socks, fluffy throws, and in the arms of the one you love. Curled up in front of the fireplace, with a mug of hot chocolate, pushing the big fluffy marshmallows down into the steaming drink only to bring your finger back up to your mouth and lick the gooey goodness off!
My oldest daughter Tina and her family have a big fire pit in the front of her yard. They love to build bonfires in the evening and gather round with neighbors and friends. Sometimes it makes the perfect occasion to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Nothing like s’mores on a fall night with just a hint of chill in the air. Do any of you ever enjoy your fall evenings like this?
Holidays are for celebrating!
I am a 60-year-old mom of 3. I have 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. That means I have been here for a whole lot of holidays! There are many holidays throughout the year. Some months only have 1. Other months have more. But even if I took and counted only 1 holiday a month, that would mean I have been here for over 700 holidays! Wow!
What about you? Just counting 1 holiday a month, how many holidays have you been here for? They start adding up before you know it!
I am Teresa, the Holiday Mom, here to give you tips and ideas for at least one holiday a month. Just for a little background, besides being a mom, grandmom, and great grandmom. After 4 years of hard work, I graduated with my BA in Elementary Education with summa cum laude in grades K-8. And I did that with 3 children at home…one of whom was a two-year-old who thought he had to stay awake as long as mommy was up!
I also worked in a daycare center for a while. They mainly had the children watching television or playing outside. The aspiring teacher that I was then, I took advantage of the bulletin boards I saw in the room I was assigned. I began putting up new bulletin boards regularly. I also started doing educational games and activities with the children. After I left, they started a fully running preschool for preschool-aged children.
Planning and Crafting
With both of the above groups, it took lots of planning. Planning is one of the things I love to do! You plan lessons, stories, activities and of course crafts!
I truly believe the child never leaves us! Most of us enjoy attending parties or planning them. Pinterest is proof of how many people are involved in DIY/crafts. The crafts are like men’s toys, as men age their toys just get bigger. While our crafts get larger also! And if you can combine crafting and an event, so much the better! Do you have a favorite craft you like to do?
What Is Your Favorite Thing to Do for the Holidays?
Many women love to create fabulous treats or recipes for families and friends. While the non-crafty ones like to sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor! I remember my mother burning her hands on hot syrup while rolling up homemade popcorn balls at Halloween, just because she knew I loved them! When my children were home, nothing gave me more a sense of pride as taking out that big juicy brown turkey out of the oven on Thanksgiving morning! What was your favorite memory of a Holiday food?
Teresa Celebrates the Holidays will contain DIY/craft projects, decorations, holiday traditions and stories, party ideas, and holiday tips and tricks!
I hope you join me and Let’s Celebrate the Holidays with each other all year long!
